Module objectives/intended learning Students are able to: 

  1. Explain the concepts of genetics, pharmacogenetics and gene therapy
  2. Apply the concepts of pharmacogenetics and personalized medicine in certain clinical conditions
  3. Explain genetic disorders and their therapeutic strategies (mechanism of action of drugs with DNA and RNA as therapeutic targets)
  4. Apply Islamic, ethical, legal and social concepts related to the application of pharmacogenomics and gene therapy in pharmaceutical services
  5. Design genetic research as a solution to health problems
Content This course aims to introduce students to the main themes of the application of biomedical science in the pharmaceutical sciences and to understanding of the basic theoretical approaches and concepts of of genetic disorder, pharmacogenetics, personalized medicine in certain clinical conditions, and genetic research.
